Ocean Eyes Ballad

Jessica Deer (Year 7)

Poem

Pearls rivet, dusted by sabbatical leave
Carpets of moss envelope the shore’s bottom
The tang of salt wafts through the layers of azure
The torrent that streams, and the white noise that’s fallen

Unperturbed by the purloined echoes
Returning to its somnolence
Tones of cerulean as endless as time
reminding us of our incompetence

As the dusk starts to break
The tides pass
The foam that wilts goodbye
With a lonesome draft
